Tennessee State University (TSU) is a public historically black university (HBCU) located in Nashville, Tennessee. As with previous responses, please note that my knowledge is current up to September 2021, and some information may have changed since then.
1. History: TSU was founded in 1912 as the Agricultural and Industrial State Normal School, with the mission of providing educational opportunities to African American students. In 1922, the institution was granted the authority to offer four-year degrees, and its name was changed to the Agricultural and Industrial State Normal College. The institution achieved university status in 1951 and adopted its current name, Tennessee State University.
